Booking It in 2011

DSC_0015 I love to read. That's not really a secret for anyone who knows me. I don't need a lot of motivation or inspriation to have a reason to pick up a book {or five}. But I still love the idea of a book club!

This year, I'm teaming up with my fellow So Cal mama, Jessica of Life as Mom, and joining her virtual reading club for Booking It in 2011. I love her club because she designed two tracks for participants, to either read her recommended books or choose different ones. Some of my books are from her list, and some are ones I added.

I haven't exactly chosen a timeline for all of them yet {and after all, I'm usually reading several at once}, so I'm just going to post my proposed reading list. I think it will be fun to see how much of this I get through. A couple of these are books I received to review, so that's always fun.

Deadly Disclosures (Dinah Harris Mystery)by Julie Cave

Beside Still Waters by Tricia Goyer

The Sacred Romance: Drawing Closer to the Heart of Godby Brent Curtis and John Eldredge

Mansfield Park* by Jane Austen {I was glad this was on Jessica's list because I like to reread at least one Austen novel a year}

Safe at Home: Confessions of a Baseball Fanatic by {fellow Dodger fan} Alyssa Milano

Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day* by Jeff Hertzberg

Finding Your Purpose as a Mom: How to Build Your Home on Holy Ground* by Donna Otto

The Pilgrim's Progress* by John Bunyan

The Perfect Scoop: Ice Creams, Sorbets, Granitas, and Sweet Accompanimentsby David Lebovitz {considering the connoisseur I am, it's sort of sacrilegious that I haven't checked this out yet!}

Dancing with My Father: How God Leads Us into a Life of Grace and Joy* by Sally Clarkson

The Help* by Kathryn Stockett

A Homemade Life: Stories and Recipes from My Kitchen Table by Molly Wizenberg

Cold Tangerines: Celebrating the Extraordinary Nature of Everyday Life by Shauna Niequist

Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life by Anne Lamott

Passionate Housewives Desperate for God by Jennie Chancey and Stacy McDonald

Real Food for Mother and Baby: The Fertility Diet, Eating for Two, and Baby's First Foodsby Nina Planck {I've read parts of this already}

Organized Simplicity: The Clutter-Free Approach to Intentional Livingby Tsh Oxenreider {working through Part 2 now}

*books from the Booking It list

I guess I'll take this opportunity to mention that I also resurrected my old "side blog," Gidget Loves Language a few months ago, and decided that's where I'll do all my book reviews. I may mention my reading progress here, but that's the site I'll be linking up to at Life as Mom, starting next month.

What are you planning to read this year? If you're a reader who loves {online} community, maybe you should join up, too! :)
