I’m excited to be entering my manuscript for Author Mentor Match this fall. My name is Nicole and I love to write (and read) YA. One of my favorite quotes is by Anne Lamott: “I am all the ages I’ve ever been.” When I write and read YA I feel like I get to tap into my younger self, someone who I truly feel like I am even as I’ve “grown up” and become a wife and mom. I wrote more about this a while back because while I love growing older and experiencing all that life has, I feel like I’m the type who will always stay young at heart.

Anyways, back to AMM! My YA novel is called Timing is Everything, and it is a YA contemporary (with a dash of light fantasy), and is the story of a 17-year old girl who discovers she can time travel to her mother’s past via her 90s mixtapes and an old Walkman. Between uncovering the mystery of the past and making her way through her senior year, and all that that entails, she meets a new friend— a boy who she finds herself inexplicably linked to.

I would love to be mentored because I want to grow as a writer and give my story the best possible chance to see publication. I see myself as a teachable person who is open to critique and revisions. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the AMM community and would love to be a part of it!
